Every student graduating after 2026 will work with AI tools daily. Most will not know how to use them well. The AI Skills Certification program teaches practical AI fluency — how to prompt effectively, evaluate AI output critically, use AI as a research and writing tool without losing your own thinking, and understand where AI makes mistakes and why. Three certification levels: Foundations, Professional, and Advanced.
Level 1 — AI Foundations
- What AI is and isn't — LLMs, image models, predictive systems explained simply
- How to prompt effectively for research, writing, and problem-solving
- How to evaluate AI output critically — hallucinations, bias, and limitations
- AI tools survey — which tools exist, what they do, how to access them
- Ethics and AI — plagiarism, attribution, academic integrity, and employment honesty
- Appropriate for: middle school, high school, adult learners entering the workforce
Level 2 — AI Professional
- Advanced prompt engineering — chain-of-thought, role prompting, structured output
- AI-assisted research workflow — fact-checking, source validation, synthesis
- AI tools for specific domains — coding, design, data analysis, medical, legal
- Building AI workflows — combining tools into automated pipelines
- AI security basics — prompt injection, data privacy, model limitations in sensitive contexts
- Appropriate for: college students, professionals, and DTC mentoring pipeline members
Level 3 — AI Advanced
- Fine-tuning and model customization concepts
- Local AI deployment — running models on-premises for privacy-sensitive applications
