Students move an idea through the full DTC prototype-to-product pipeline — CAD and design, prototyping, testing, and bringing a finished product toward market — with support from the Machine Design Network and industry mentors. Students are trained to be builders and founders, not just test-takers.
The Pipeline
- Ideation — identify a real problem worth solving with a product
- Design — CAD, engineering fundamentals, and design-for-manufacture basics
- Prototype — build, test, and iterate with access to labs and the Machine Design Network
- Validate — user testing, refinement, and readiness assessment
- Launch — packaging, IP basics, and a path toward market or licensing
